About Garstang Camera Club

Garstang Camera Club meets at the Garstang Arts Centre on each Wednesday of each month starting in September and closing for a summer break in May of the following year. During the summer months we still meet but twice a month, often out and about with cameras!

All visitors and any prospective new members are always given a very warm and very friendly welcome. If you are an absolute beginner, you are absolutely welcome; if you are a beginner, we will give you lots of encouragement; if you are experienced, we will challenge you. Whatever skills or equipment you bring, your interest in photography is the only qualification needed. Come and try us out, you won’t be disappointed; Learn something new and get inspired!

Photography is a great hobby allowing you to get out and about with your camera or create home studio photographs if you are not able to get out. Stimulate your creativity using software to enhance your images.

We have an exciting programme of events for 2023/24 including some excellent speakers on a variety of photographic subjects and a new programme of interactive workshops. Some of our experienced members will act as mentors to help with your photography and with using software such as Photoshop and/or Lightroom.

To help develop our photographic skills we hold the Events Cup based on our summer outings and other competitions including Environment, Creatures of the World, Humanity and Anything Goes. Each of the competitions has four sections, Colour Prints, Mono Prints, Colour Digital Images and Mono Digital Images. For anyone wishing to take their hobby further, we are affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain through the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union and members can enter their competitions and work to gain Awards for Photographic Merit.
