Morning All
Lewis and Mike would like to wish all members a happy, healthy and prosperous 2023!
4 + 1 quotes I always like:
- William E. Vaughan – an optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.
- Billy Vaughan – Youth is when you’re allowed to stay up late on New Year’s Eve. Middle Age is when you’re forced to.
- Nia Vardalos – “My New Year’s resolution list usually starts with the desire to lose between 10 and 3,000 pounds.”
- Charlie Brown – “You know how I always dread the whole year? Well, this time I’m only going to dread one day at a time.”
- My own – 10pm is the new midnight!

A Journey Through Central America
Robin Shorrock will be giving a show on his trip through Central America on Friday 27th January 2023 starting at 7.00pm with hotpot supper in KIRKLAND and CATTERALL MEMORIAL HALL.
The Journey starts in Panama City visiting 3 very different parts of the city and then a sail on the Panama Canal.
Flying onto Costa Rica we first visit a coffee farm, then a quick overnight stay in the capital San Jose, then into the cloud forest to see some wildlife.
Other countries visited are Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala.
In Honduras we visit the Mayan site of Copan with its fine stone carvings, and in Guatemala the larger Mayan site of Tikal with its tall temples piercing through the jungle canopy. Other things to look out for are the Bananas crossing the road and the volcano saying goodbye at the end of the trip.
Tickets cost £10 and are available from Robin Shorrock on 01995 602238
Proceeds to St Helen’s Church Churchtown.
I know this show is proving to be very popular and there are limited tickets available so to avoid disappointment please get in touch with Robin ASAP!
