Afternoon All
Notices:
New Zealand ‘Battle.’
I have now received the New Zealand AV containing the judging, scoring and, hopefully, the result of our ‘Battle.’ This will be shown, in the Arts Centre, on Wednesday evening, 19th March. It is only eight and half minutes long!
I haven’t watched it so the result will only be known at the finish!
April Exhibition:
This exhibition of prints is open to all members who wish to submit prints to be shown in the Arts Centre.
These prints are ones that have NOT be given an award in any of our competitions, and/or they could also be prints that for some reason you haven’t entered. Please bring in your prints ‘cos we need about 60 to fill the walls in the Arts Centre!
The deadline for prints is Wednesday 19th March although you can bring them in on any Wednesday.
The ‘hanging’ of the prints will be on Saturday 5th April and the exhibition will be open from Tuesday 8th April until Thursday 1st May.
Maurice is co-ordinating all of this and he has asked that all prints have on the back your name and a title.
Many thanks to Maurice for his co-ordination.
Quiz Teams:
Still time to enter your name to join a team for the Charles Flatt intergroup quiz.
If you would like to be part of the team, PLEASE let me know via our website on info@garstangcameraclub.co.uk or chat to me next Wednesday.
Events Cup:
I’ve attached the list of destinations for the 2025 Events Cup and some of these destinations have an explanatory note. We have 23 destinations listed so, many thanks to all those who sent in suggestions!
On Wednesday 19th March, during the members evening, a vote will take place to determine the actual 5 destinations and during the committee meeting the following week the days and dates will be set.
Information from Ruth Lochrie, Lancaster Photographic Society:
This is part of our inter-club (i.e. GLAM) ‘effort’ to offer all club members other talks that are taking place at the clubs.
We (Lancaster Photographic Society) have an in person speaker a week on Monday from Assembly Arts, held at the St. Thomas’ Centre. The speaker is Alan Morris – Talking about photography – this is £5 each.
Lee Metcalf: A second reading!
2 tours for you to read about; Venice and Harris and Lewis.
I’ve attached both trips for you to peruse, and, if you are interested, please contact Lee direct – all information on the attached.
Coffee Duty:
Coffee and tea duty for this coming Wednesday, 26th, is Lewis and Tim. Many thanks in advance!
Up and coming programme of events:
Wednesday 5th March: Tesni Ward: Via Zoom, British Wildlife. Tesni writes: Britian is home to some of the most charismatic wildlife in the world, yet some species can be elusive, making them a challenge to any photographer. This talk covers stories from the field, essential fieldcraft and how to ensure you remain ethical whilst developing your portfolio.
Wednesday 12th March: Humanity Cup judging by Nicki Ellis-Greenwood
Wednesday 19th March: Members Evening: A talk by Stan titled, Monochrome photography. Plus, voting on destinations for the Events Cup, the viewing of the New Zealand ‘Battle’ via their AV and member’s challenge; show & tell – ‘Above and Below.’
Wednesday 26th March: there will be no meeting as there is a committee meeting on in the evening – sorry!
That’s all folks….
Cheers
Mike
