Message from Madeline – Arts Centre
The next exhibition in the Music Room is the Groups Exhibition where you can showcase all the fabulous things you do.
Pictures, paintings, embroidery, performance photographs, anything you fancy to best advertise yourselves to potential new members.
So, we need some photographs folks! Say, 6” x 4” or similar size to pin up or put around our poster.
If you have any please bring them in on Wednesday. Or, if you haven’t and want to get some printed Timpson’s in Garstang do a printing service for this type of print size. If you take them to him on a USB stick, he will print them for you. The club will reimburse you for costs involved.
Madeline also says – Hanging is any time after 4pm on the 7th February, Monday 9th in the morning, Tuesday morning and evening and of course anytime when your group meets if that’s easier.
Any questions? Email me on info@garstangcameraclub.co.uk or phone on 07340 314408, thanks.

Calendar Images: Reminder!
As already mentioned, and to repeat! We have been tasked, again, to produce images for the 2027 calendar!
Boundaries: Focused where possible on Garstang and immediate surroundings; however, any images considered between Lancaster in the north, Preston in the south, Blackpool in the west and Abbeystead/Bleasdale in the east. This should give us plenty of opportunity, so please start thinking and snapping!
So, this means that the scope has now widened! Please get out and about, in the fullness of time, so that we can offer a great selection to the Arts Centre committee. All images submitted will be shown and voted upon on Wednesday 13th May and the selected top 36 will be sent to the Arts Centre committee for their final selection of 12/14 for the calendar.

Challenge – another reminder!
A winter’s scene! Or as near to it as poss!
Any image, colour or black and white, which will portray a wintery picture.
You can enter as many as you want, within reason! The deadline for the ‘Show-and-Tell’ will be Wednesday 25th February, so that gives us all just over 4 weeks and the BBC weather predicts ideal conditions coming up, next week, end of!

This presentation is packed with practical hints, tips, and real-world advice on photographing families on location in every season — from bright summer days to crisp winter light.
I’ll cover how to work with natural light, handle shy or reluctant children, keep dads engaged, and make sure everyone stays happy, relaxed, and fully charged throughout the shoot.
We’ll look at the dos and don’ts of family clothing choices, how to get the most out of your time on location, and how I tell a visual story that results in a meaningful book for the family.
I’ll also dive into the technical nitty-gritty behind creating strong images and share the key secrets that turn a good family photoshoot into a truly successful one.
